Introduction

I have been sexually attracted to little girls for more than 60 years but choose to not act on it. Whatever predisposition I may have inherited seems to have been initialized by sexual experiences I had when I was a child.

I am not exclusive and am happily married with three children and ten grandchildren. My pedophilia simmered in the background during the 25 years of my first marriage.

My present wife and I had foster children in 2007. Three years later, the girl who had been ten years old when she lived with us made false allegations that I had molested her. I was never charged because the authorities know that she is not telling the truth.

I came out to my wife and she encouraged me to become a licensed professional counselor so that I could help other people with pedophilia. I almost completed my master's degree in mental health counseling, when Walden University dismissed me based solely on my sexual orientation. That set me free from being a mandatory reporter.

Helping People with Pedophilia

I began helping minor attracted people and co-founded the Association for Sexual Abuse Prevention, which continues to provide training for mental health professionals who are willing to serve this population. I help them maintain a list of therapists who provide "services for non-offending pedophiles."

I also participate in the peer-support forum, Virtuous Pedophiles. Many minor attracted people (MAPs) find all the help they need by interacting with others who are committed to not offending. When someone requests a referral, I let them know if there is a MAP-friendly therapist in their area or suggest someone who can help them virtually. Generally they do not need help to keep them from offending, but may be suffering from depression or the results of the stigma surrounding this unwanted sexual orientation.

There are many resources available (such as Stop It Now and Helping Survivors) for those who have been sexually abused, but very little has been available for people with pedophilia who have not offended. Therapy is very expensive. As a life coach, I can provide inexpensive support for those who cannot afford a licensed professional.
